Bruno Mars and The Time delivered an intense performance at the 2017 Grammys in tribute to the departed Prince. The two musical acts entertained the event-goers with their funky take on "Purple Rain". It was a show that had everyone on their feet and jamming along to the beat.

The Time was also the perfect group to play Prince's classics onstage. Rolling Stone wrote that the group members previously collaborated with the legend for three albums in the 1980s. Additionally, they also appeared in Prince's "Purple Rain". As for Bruno Mars, a lot of people also agree that he was the best musician for the 2017 Grammys tribute.

The tribute started with The Time rocking "Jungle" from Prince's 1984 album, "Ice Cream Castle". They followed it up with "The Bird". After their act, Bruno Mars took to the stage looking like Prince himself, even rocking an eyeliner. He had on the glittery suit and even the lace that Prince sported in "Purple Rain", according to Billboard.

Bruno Mars did not just emulate Prince's look. He also sported a lyre-shaped guitar that was mainly associated with the revered musician. On top of that, the guitar also had a sling that had a leopard print. Musical-wise, he delivered a spotless cover of "Let's Go Crazy". It was not just any other cover, the performers also rearranged the music to mimic the live versions. Meanwhile, The Time hung out in the press room after their turn.

Surprisingly, The Time that played on the 2017 Grammys stage was composed of the original members. Morris Day, Jerome Benton, Jesse and Jellybean Johnson, Monte Moir, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis got back together to pay tribute to their former co-collaborator. While backstage, the press asked them what they thought of Bruno Mars' showmanship and readily praised the "Just the Way You Are" singer.
