Mark Ronson to headline Dundee’s new music festival

Some of the top names in dance music including Mark Ronson,  Hot Chip and Basement Jaxx will perform at Dundee's new music festival this summer.

Other big names including Rudimental and Clean Bandit were announced for the Carnival 56 festival on Wednesday morning.

Mark Ronson is a DJ, singer and producer responsible for some of the biggest British albums and songs in recent years.

He produced Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and his song Uptown Funk, featuring Bruno Mars, was a number one in both the UK and US. It also won a Grammy for best song and a host of other awards.

The festival will take place on August 12 and 13.

A host of Dundee bands including Sinderins, The Law and Fat Goth will also perform at the two-day event.

Over 100 bands and DJs will perform at the event.

The full line-up can be viewed here.

There will be five live music areas including a main stage, big top tent and VIP area along with bars and food concessions.

Festival organisers hope the event will attract around 15,000 people each day, although they applied to Dundee City Council for a capacity of 19,999.

Pre-sale registration for tickets will start at 9am on Friday while tickets will go on general sale on Monday morning.

Festival organiser Craig Blyth said: "I'm absolutely delighted at how the line-up as come together.

"It would be hard to put an individual name on who I am looking forward to the most. The line-up has real strength and depth.

"We also have a lot of up-and-coming acts who will be grateful for the showcase  so I don't think there's one definite artist who stands out the most – I'm just looking forward to bringing it Carnival 56 to Dundee."
