Swedish singer Zara Larsson is going to perform at Melodifestivalen 2017 final on the 11 March, as was confirmed by the Swedish national broadcaster SVT today.
After weeks of speculation, the Swedish national broadcaster SVT confirmed today that 19 year-old Swedish singer Zara Larsson will sing at Melodifestivalen final. She is going to perform as a interval act at the final on the 11 March.
It is currently unknown yet what Larsson is set to perform at the show so we await more information from SVT.
At just the age of 10 the singer won the TV-show Talent and went on to have a big music career across the globe. Eurovision Song Contest project manager Anette Helenius says:
We are incredibly excited to welcome Zara Larsson to our stage in the final to give extra star power with a big glamourous number and international class.
Melodifestivalen a global platform
The Swedish national selection for Eurovision is one of the most popular in the both the Swedish as well as the Eurovision community, reaching up to around 3 million viewers nationally on a yearly basis.

It is important for Melodifestivalen to have performers such as Zara Larsson included to show that Melodifestivalen has positioned itself as a musical platform for the world.
Sweden in Eurovision
The country has had much succes in Eurovision with 6 wins to date, the latest being Måns Zelmerlöw and his song Heroes. The Swedes are very close to Ireland in terms of most wins in Eurovision, with Ireland having won 7 times.
Sweden has selected their Eurovision entry with Melodifestivalen every year since 1958, having only selected their representative via a different mechanism once.
