'Everything happened for a reason': Rapper Future talks truce with ex fiance Ciara after lengthy public battle

Their 2014 breakup came after a short engagement and the birth of their son Future Jr.

And by 2016, singer Ciara, 31, and rapper Future, 33, found themselves in court, suing each other for claims of libel and slander -- as well as battling for custody over their son.

But now in a new interview with Billboard Magazine, Future insists 'I feel like everything happened for a reason'

'I'm happy with life now. I'm happy with life, period, even with the end of a relationship being...' the rapper told the magazine before trailing off.

He continued, 'I'm just not going to settle for anything, you know? Even in my life now, I know I can be a better person. I ain't giving up on myself, so if you give up on me, I ain't got nothing else to say for you.'

The Atlanta native has five kids with four different women and boasts '"I'm the motherf****** provider,' in the magazine. 'That's what God put me here for.'

Future, who's birth name is Nayvadius Wilburn, also implies he's been dating plenty of famous women without the public finding out.

'What the people don't understand is, I been kicking it with superstars when it comes to females for a minute -- on the low-low with nobody don't know-know,' the rapper bragged.

He has recently been linked to Nicki Minaj after they filmed a music video together. Nicki, 34, recently broke up with rapper Meek Mill.

Future, who is currently featured on Ariana Grande's latest single Everyday, also takes aim at the Grammys in the new article.

'The Grammys, they get what they get -- the shit that they don't, it's the shit that they maybe don't want to understand,' the rapper stated

Future was among other stars like Drake and Justin Bieber who decided not to attend this years ceremony.

Ciara then announced in January 2014 they were expecting their first child when she made an appearance on The View.

Sour note: By the time they welcomed son Future Jr,  Future and Ciara were rumored to have split, here they are in happier times at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards

By the time Future Jr was born in May 2014, rumors ran rampant that Future had cheated on Ciara. Neither commented on the speculation but by December 2014, Ciara was having her tattoo of Future's initials removed from her finger.

It wasn't long before Ciara moved on with Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson. They went public during a dinner at the Wh ite House in April 2015.

Future did not take too kindly to a new man being around his son with Ciara and launched a series of vague tweets that were believed to be about his ex and Russell Wilson.

Then came the lawsuits. In February 2016, Ciara filed a $15 million dollar defamation suit against Future for comments he made in multiple interviews and tweets.

Things continued to get ugly between the exes when Future counter-sued Ciara, claiming he couldn't defame her because her career was a 'flop.'

Ciara did not let the mudslinging between she and her ex effect her new love, she and Russell married on July 6, 2016 in Liverpool.

The Wilson's announced they were expecting their first child in October 2016.

In January of 2017, Future and Ciara settled their custody battle over Future Jr.

Shortly after in February, Ciara dropped her $15 million dollar lawsuit against Future.
